Texas Holdem Poker

Please note - Click on underlined words to launch our terminology page.

Texas Holdem is one of the fastest games at a Poker table. The objective is to finish with the best hand and ultimately win the pot. It consists of four rounds of betting and is played by between two and ten players. As one of the most popular in the Multiplayer Poker range, it is also the lowest-limit Poker game.

The game starts with a dealer being declared and the players to the left of the dealer posting BLIND BETS. The player immediately on the dealers left posts a SMALL BLIND bet, and the Player on the Small Blind's left posts a BIG BLIND bet. Note: The Dealer's position at the table changes after every game. The dealer button (D) shows the Dealer's position at the table.

Two pocket cards are dealt to each Player.

In the first round, the Player to the Big Blind's left plays first and can either:

FOLD
B
ET
RAISE

Note: In the first round, betting is capped at one bet and three raises per Player. Players cannot Check in the first betting round because the Blinds are bets, not ANTES.

In the second round, three COMMUNITY CARDS are dealt.
This is called the Flop. A round of betting follows, and Players can either:

CHECK
FOLD
B
ET
RAISE

In the third round, a fourth COMMUNITY CARD is dealt.
This is called the Turn. Another round of betting exactly the same as the second round follows.

In the fourth round, a fifth and finalCOMMUNITY CARD is dealt. This is called the River Card. The final round of betting, like rounds two and three, follows.

The remaining Players then use their two pocket cards and the five community cards to create the best five-card hand possible. The winner takes the pot. ( see the poker hand rating rules )

Note: If two or more Players have the same hand, the pot is split equally between them.

TIP:

- Always FOLD when necessary. If you have a worthless hand, you have nothing to lose by Folding. The professional players will FOLD more than 50% of the time before the flop.
